artist info
The 13th Annual Sister City Female Vocalist Jazz Audition at Jazz Alley is right around the corner so mark your calendars! The Seattle Kobe Sister City Association (SKSCA) is pleased to announce its Seattle-Kobe Female Jazz Vocalist Audition. SKSCA will select one high school and one adult female jazz vocalist from the greater Seattle area to Kobe, Japan to perform at the Kobe Shinkaichi Jazz Queen Vocalist Contest in early May 2017.
Every fall for the last sixteen years, the winner of the Kobe Jazz Queen Contest has flown from Japan to Seattle to debut in the U.S. at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley. This year, the SKSCA is proud to host its 13th jazz vocalist audition as a reciprocal exchange to send two Seattle female jazz vocalists to Japan.
Finalists have been selected! They will perform at a live audition at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley on Monday, March 6, 2017, from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. (Doors open at 6:00 pm.) Family, friends, and community members are encouraged to come and support the finalists. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students/seniors with proceeds supporting this and future Seattle-Kobe Jazz competitions. (The $5.00 Jazz Alley service charge is included in the ticket price.) Students and seniors, please call Jazz Alley for discounted ticket purchases. Finalists will be announced in early March. Tickets can also be purchased at the door but seating is limited so reservations are recommended.
