KBCS, KNKX and Dimitriou's Jazz Alley present five-time Grammy-winners, gospel legends, The Blind Boys of Alabama for three nights touring in support of their album, Talkin' Christmas! Members are: Jimmy Carter (singer), Ricky McKinnie – (singer), Ben Moore (singer), Paul Beasley (singer), Rev. Julius Love (singer), Joey Williams (guitar/singer), Ray Ladson (bass/singer), Austin Moore (drums) and Matt Hopkins (keys). Show times Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm Tuesday and 5:30pm Wednesday and Thursday.

With great honor, we welcome the return of the Blind Boys of Alabama, touring in support of their Christmas album, Talkin' Christmas!" The album features blues legend Taj Mahal and includes several original holiday songs. This special concert will include songs from the Talkin’ Christmas!" album as well as the band's previous Grammy-winning Christmas recording, Go Tell It on the Mountain," along with Blind Boys' Gospel classics and other gems from a 70-plus-year career.
Described as ‘James Brown does gospel’, The Blind Boys of Alabama are recognized worldwide as true living legends of Gospel music. Celebrated by both The Grammy Foundation and The National Endowment for the Arts with Lifetime Achievement Awards, inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and winners of five GRAMMY® Awards (plus a 2018 GRAMMY® nomination!), they have attained the highest levels of recognition for a career that spans over 60 years. In the Christmas Show, the Blind Boys present holiday standards from their Grammy winning 2004 Go Tell It On The Mountain and 2014 Talkin' Christmas albums. The holiday tour debuted in 2003 and has included sellout shows at such prestigious venues as Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, among others.
In the seven decades since the Blind Boys of Alabama first began signing together, America has witnessed a World War, the civil rights movement, and the Summer of Love; the moon landing, Vietnam, and the fall of Berlin Wall; JFK, MLK, and Malcolm X; the invention of the jukebox the atomic bomb, and the internet. Thought it all the Blind Boys' music has not only endured, but thrived, helping both to define the sound of the American south and to push it forward through the 20th century and well on into the 21st. Praised by NPR as "pioneers," the group has transcended barriers of race and genre to become one of the most acclaimed and celebrated groups in modern music.
The Blind Boys are known for crossing multiple musical boundaries with their remarkable interpretations of everything from traditional gospel favorites to contemporary spiritual material by songwriters such as Ben Harper, Eric Clapton, Prince and Tom Waits. They have appeared on recordings with Bonnie Raitt, Tom Waits, k.d. lang, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Willie Nelson, Susan Tedeschi, Solomon Burke, Aaron Neville, Ben Harper and most recently Justin Vernon, Patty Griffin, and Merrill Garbus The Blind Boys of Alabama have made appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, The Grammy® Awards, 60 Minutes, The Colbert Report and their own holiday special on PBS.

Jazz Alley is a seated night club, not a dance hall, every person admitted has an assigned fixed seat. Dining is optional.
