KNKX 88.5 and Dimitiriou's Jazz Alley presents Northwest Music Monday artist the Grit City Jazz Octet and special guest vocalist LaVon Hardison. Band members are: Tracy Knoop (alto sax), Keith Klawitter (tenor sax), Mike Volz (tenor and baritone sax), Jared Hall (trumpet), Gary Shutes (trombone), David Deacon-Joyner (piano/composer/arranger), Osama Afifi (bass), and Mark Ivester (drums).

The Grit City Jazz Octet calls Tacoma its home and proudly presents some of the area's finest talent. Featuring compositions and arrangements by pianist David Deacon-Joyner, the band's music is customized to the tastes and unique musical styles of its members in the tradition of Duke Ellington. The GCJO is proud to feature internationally-renowned and award-winning vocalist LaVon Hardison.
