After nearly 20 years together earning a reputation as one of the finest contemporary vocal ensembles in the world, Groove For Thought is proud to be performing their final two shows at their favorite Seattle venue, Dimitriou's Jazz Alley.

Groove for Thought has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, sharing their unique brand of music with school, concert, nightclub, and festival audiences alike. Performance highlights include the Europa Cantat Festival, the Polyfolia World Choral Symposium, the Jazz Education Network Conference, the American Choral Directors Association Conference, and many of the finest jazz festivals in the United States including the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the University of Northern Colorado/Greeley Jazz Festival, and the Oceanside Jazz Festival. Groove for Thought also had the opportunity to open several shows for comedian Jay Leno. In an appearance on The Choir with Alex Jones on BBC 3 Radio, Jones commented, “Unbelievable singing—I almost feel like I need to lie down after listening.”

In 2010, Groove for Thought was selected as one of ten vocal groups from around the United States to appear on the second season of NBC’s highly rated vocal competition show The Sing-Off. As judges on the show, Boyz II Men founder Shawn Stockman commented, “Y’all are so cool it hurts,” while Singer/Songwriter Ben Folds noted that Groove had, “style, soul, personality, and killer tone — a truly classy music performance.” In addition to appearing on four of the show’s five episodes, Groove is featured on The Sing-Off: Harmonies for the Holidays and The Sing-Off: The Best of Season 2.

Groove for Thought has four studio albums available. In 2006 the group released their self-titled debut. “Their arrangements are stunning representations of the possibilities of vocal harmonies,” reviewed the Contemporary A Cappella Society. 2011’s Inspired features contemporary jazz-influenced takes on songs from many of the pop and rock artists that have influenced the group. In 2013, Groove’s first holiday album, Songs of Good Cheer, was released to rave reviews. Legendary R&B vocalist Brian McKnight commented, “Not only one of the best Christmas CDs I’ve ever heard, one of the best CDs I’ve ever heard.” 2015’s Unnecessary Dissonance features a collection of jazz standards as well as original compositions by lead soprano Amanda Taylor.

Groove For Thought wants to thank everybody who has supported them throughout the years, and looks forward to two more amazing nights of music together!
