On July 3, 2016, guitarist Mike Stern suffered a massive accident when he tripped over construction debris while hailing a cab outside his Manhattan apartment. But this did not stop the courageous Stern, who has literally glued, taped, and velcroed his guitar pick to his hand along his road to recovery. In fact, he already has a new album, coyly titled Trip, which features greats such as Bob Franceschini, Bill Evans, Victor Wooten, Dennis Chambers, Lenny White, and even Stern’s wife Leni Stern on vocals and African n’goni.

But, of course, the album would not be complete without appearances by longtime friends Randy Brecker, Tom Kennedy, and Dave Weckl, all whom will be accompanying Stern on stage this December. Jazz trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker has been on the scene for more than four decades, influencing the worlds of jazz, R&B, and rock. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, and Parliament/Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Jaco Pastorius and Frank Zappa.

Tom Kennedy is an accomplished touring and studio acoustic and electric bass player, known for his signature style best described as deep, soulful grooves that merge seamlessly into acrobatic, horn-like soloing. Stern himself describes Kennedy as “one of the best bass players I've ever played with in my life.”

And then there’s drummer Dave Weckl. Beginning his collaborative relationship with Stern after an already illustrious career accompanying the likes of Chick Corea, Simon & Garfunkel, Madonna, and Robert Plant, Weckl has since been inducted into the Modern Drummer hall of fame. They rank him as one of the greatest 25 drummers of all time.

All four members have immense history with each other and are as much friends as they are bandmates. Their support of Stern is incredible and reaches from the studio, to the stage, all the way to the streets.
