artist info

One of the most recognized saxophonists in the US, Mindi Abair has sold a half million records as a solo artist. You’ve seen her perform with Aerosmith, on American Idol and sitting in with Bruce Springsteen. Hew new album, Wild Heart, features Joe Perry, Gregg Allman, Max Weinberg, Booker T. Jones, Keb’ Mo’, Trombone Shorty and Waddy Wachtel. It debuted #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Sales Chart, and her 1st single “Haute Sauce” peaked at #1 on the contemporary jazz radio chart. Her duet with Gregg Allman is playing on AAA radio now.

This year Mindi’s performances include The Boneshakers with Randy Jacobs and Sweetpea Atkinson, original members of the band Was (Not Was) with the worldwide hit “Walk the Dinosaur.” Sweetpea Atkinson will be releasing his new album on Blue Note in March of 2015. Mindi joined The Boneshakers on stage for the first time at the Newport Beach Jazz Festival in June 2014. The sparks from Randy Jacobs’ fiery guitar, Sweetpea Atkinson’s bluesy R&B vocals and Mindi’s gritty rockin’ sax created a special blending of musical styles garnering rave reviews and a newfound magic!

Mindi brings a fearless energy and abandon to the stage as a powerhouse on the saxophone, hearkening back to the days of Junior Walker or King Curtis. Her solo career has produced 10 #1 radio singles and 7 major label solo releases that have topped the Contemporary Jazz Charts.

Mindi has hosted the internationally syndicated radio show “Chill With Mindi Abair” for 8 years. She is the President of the Los Angeles Chapter of NARAS. She has won numerous awards, most recently the Best International Instrumentalist at the 2011 Wave Awards in Toronto, and Best Female Artist of the Year at the 2011 Oasis Contemporary Jazz Awards. She also appeared on the 2012 season on the Fran Drescher show “Happily Divorced.” In addition, Mindi authored the book “How To Play Madison Square Garden – A Guide To Stage Performance.”

Kat Edmonson

Tue, Feb 25 - Wed, Feb 26

On her upcoming 2020 recording "Dreamers Do" jazz vocalist Kat Edmondson explores the shared human struggle around daring to dream and it illuminates a range of emotional and psychological consequences that can happen along the way. A question gets raised in Kat’s vulnerable original, “Too Late to Dream”: “Are the messages we receive as children about following our dreams relevant through adult life?” The album is a mix of Edmonson’s original songs and re-imagined Disney songs from the mid-twentieth century and takes place over the course of one, sleepless night.

Regina Belle

Thu, Feb 27 - Sun, Mar 1

Four-time GRAMMY®-winning R&B/Pop songstress Regina Belle is a different story. Even as the New Jersey native rode high in the urban charts throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s with such urban classics as “Baby Come to Me,” “Make It Like It Was” and “What Goes Around,” faith, churchgoing, and gospel music remained at the very core of her life in the spotlight.
