The Pacific Jazz Institute at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley welcomes fusion trio Lao Tizer – keys (former “best New Jazz Artist” nominee, Down To The Bone, Special EFX), Karen Briggs – violin (Yanni, Stanley Clarke, Jazz In Pink), Chieli Minucci – guitar (Special EFX), Rufus Philpot – bass (Down To The Bone, Scott Henderson, Randy Brecker) and Raul Pineda – drums (Chucho Valdes, Michel Camilo). Show times Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm each night.

Join us for a night of fiery Jazz-World-Fusion with Lao Tizer featuring Chieli Minucci & Karen Briggs!

TIZER is a 2011 "Jazz Group of the Year" nominee, led by keyboardist, composer and recording artist and former "Best New Jazz Artist" nominee Lao Tizer. This acclaimed group has toured extensively both internationally and in US and their 2012 release Downbeat spent months on all the national jazz radio charts. Tizer's music is a blend of diverse flavors; Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Funk, Rock, World and classical influences and captivates audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Tizer has been proclaimed "an independent artist with all the right moves" and "a torchbearer for the new generation of contemporary jazz."

Chieli Minucci is best known as the founder, guitarist and leader of the Grammy nominated contemporary jazz super group Special EFX, which formed in 1982. Minucci & Special EFX have recorded a combined 27 albums in addition to years tireless touring. Their 30th anniversary release Genesis (2013), has spent months on all the jazz radio charts.

Often described as "the lady in red," violinist extraordinaire Karen Briggs is best-known for her fiery performances on Yanni's multi-platinum selling, Live at the Acropolis which has been seen by millions around the world. In addition to her performances alongside Yanni, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Stanley Clarke and Patrice Rushen, Briggs is also a member of the red-hot women's jazz collective Jazz In Pink. Briggs solo discography includes 2009's Soulchestral Groove and her mid-90's release Amazing Grace as well as a forthcoming 2014 release.
