In 2005, three young musicians from Seattle formed an acoustic trio whose genre-bending songwriting and powerful live presence earned them a devoted following and headlining spots at many of the Northwest's premier venues and festivals. More than ten years later, their sonic palette has expanded to accommodate their growth into territory ranging from barn-burning folk to New Orleans-inflected party rock to moody and spacious psychedelia, and the hundreds of shows under their belt are in evidence every time they take the stage together.

Guitarists Nick Drummond and Oliver Franklin's distinctive songwriting styles showcase inspirations ranging from dusty and shimmering West African guitar to the grit and raw power of American rock, all crowned with memorable and highly singable lyrics. Bassist Andrew Pulkrabek grounds the sound with his insistent commitment to both danceable groove and mindfully detailed arrangement, while their newest recruit Ehssan Karimi brings the songs to new life with a marriage of sensitivity and power rarely seen behind the drum kit. Their faithful West Coast following are in clear agreement that a Senate concert is a musical experience that is both difficult to define and not to be missed.

The band members have since moved on to pursue individual goals (Nick as a member of Impossible Bird and as a solo artist, Oliver as a solo artist, Andrew as an entertainer and founding performer of Raditactical), but a few times a year they reconvene for wildly popular shows. For those that attend, one thing remains clear: there is magic in this band; The Senate puts on a concert that is not to be missed.
